Mission Partners At Rose City Park Presbyterian

At RCPPC, spirituality moves us beyond pews and prayer. We want to take action that can foster real change, locally and beyond.

Mission Partners

Ongoing commitments: Inspired by the ever-changing needs of our community and the passions of our members, we strive to serve in places where the human heart and a human touch can help ease great need.

  • For example, as part of our current support efforts, we serve the Wy’East Shelter for unhoused veterans with homecooked meals and basic furniture and supplies when vets transition to permanent housing.
  • We are part of a rotational network (Family Promise) that provides shelter and supports for  families encountering homelessness.
  • We support the Hollywood Mother and Child Education Center with children’s clothing, toys, educational materials and workshops.
  • In our advocacy work, we are a founding member of and active participant in the Interfaith Alliance on Poverty, an ecumenical network of congregations seeking to end systemic poverty.
  • As we do this work, we strive to forge bonds, with those we serve, each other, and agency leaders.
  • Anyone is invited to join in any of these endeavors.

We also try to help by making a public witness to issues that are close to our hearts: a food or diaper drive, the opening of a recovery cafe, marching in the Portland Pride Parade, participating in workshops on violence de-escalation, etc.

Rose City Park Presbyterian reallocates some of our members’ contributions to local non-profits aligned with alleviating food insecurity, providing medical help, supporting environmental action, and social justice.

Additional organizations that receive our contributions include:

Their direct service programs support refugees and immigrants, food insecure people, low-income people living with HIV, unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness, and survivors of domestic violence.

Their Public Policy Advocacy team provides pathways for EMO clients, community members and Oregonians of faith to bring about change in the U.S. Congress, at the Oregon State Capitol and in local government. Learn more here,

Financial Giving

On a national level, Rose City Park Presbyterian reallocates some of participants’ contributions to the efforts of the Presbyterian Church (USA). By adding to a bigger pot, we maximize our giving on a larger scale.

One Great Hour of Sharing Our congregation has joined in this Lenten offering since its 1949 inception. The offering provides relief to those affected by natural disasters, helping to empower the poor and oppressed and to give food to the hungry.

Peacemaking Offering For over 30 years, the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program and the Presbyterian Church (USA) have been committed to pursuing a peaceful and just world. Through the offering, RCPPC has supported local charities including Oregon Food Bank, Wallace Medical Concern, Sisters of the Road, as well as national groups such as The Climate Trust, Community of Welcoming Congregations, and Friends of Sabeel North America.

Christmas Joy Offering In addition to an all-church project to support a local charity, we participate in the PCUSA Christmas Joy Offering. The offering (an annual Presbyterian tradition since the 1930’s) provides financial assistance to current and former church workers and their families experiencing unusual need, including opportunities for deserving students to attend Presbyterian-related racial ethnic colleges, several historically Black colleges and colleges for indigenous peoples.
