The beginning of September marks the Season of Creation,  a time in the Christian liturgical calendar to celebrate, to honor and to care for Creation. This year, the theme of Season of Creation is pulled from the text of Ezekiel 47:1-12, which portrays God’s life giving water flowing from the temple of God. The river grows deeper and deeper restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining flourishing ecosystems. As we witness ongoing harms to Creation, this vision calls us towards restoration and renewal so that environmental healing and human well-being may flourish together.

Join Creation Justice Ministries for a webinar to launch the Season of Creation with special guest, Queen Quet, Chieftess and Head-of-State of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. The Gullah/Geechee Nation exist from Jacksonville, NC to Jacksonville, FL.  It encompasses all of the Sea Islands and thirty to thirty-five miles inland to the St. John’s River. Queen Quet was elected by the Gullah/Geechee Nation as the first ever Chieftess and Head-Of-State in 2000 and is serving her third term. We are honored to have her share about the Gullah/Geechee’s spiritual and cultural connection to water.
